About

My Journey

Stamford

After completing my GCSE's, I attended Stamford college and completed a diploma worth three A levels in "Music Production and Technology". During my time there, I also won the college's 'Enterprise' award, given to me for my forward-thinking final projects. I was lucky enough to be taught a wide range of topics, including studio recording, music mixing and production, live sound, field recording and audio for media (Foley and voiceover).

Radio

From October 2018 to September 2021, I volunteered at my local radio station, PCRFM. The show I worked on, Peterborough's Most Wanted- hosted by David Hughes and James Miller, invited local talent onto the show to perform live. For the first year and a half, I operated the sound desk, mixing the performances live to be broadcasted on air, and on Facebook live, through OBS and Audacity. For the second year and a half, I co-presented on the show, operating Myriad, interviewing guests and presenting live on air. For a short while, I also hosted my own show on their online channel, PCR Extra, but this unfortunately came to an end when the pandemic hit.

University

After college, I decided that to gain more experience, I wanted to go into higher education. Anglia Ruskin University stood out to me, as the course I am now on, Bsc Audio and Music Technology, was highly rated and had a range of topics that I was interested in. My time at university so far has been incredible, with interesting modules, supportive staff and a range of great facilities like studios and mac suites.

I've also had the opportunity to perform on stage several times at ARU showcases. I find that songwriting and playing guitar helps me take breaks from coursework and has helped me balance the stress that can come with uni work.

Podcasting

During my first year of univeristy, I took a particular interest in podcasting. I learnt and then trained several other students on how to use podcasting equipment. Although most podcasts that were recorded were used for training purposes, I will link below a podcast I did recently.

Acoustics Award

In March 2023, I was lucky enough to be given an award by Sharps Redmore Acoustic Consultancy for my work on my acoustics module which I completed in my first year at ARU.

ARU Recognition

My award from Sharps Redmore was then later recognised by ARU and I was presented with another certificate from the University at a graduates award ceremony.

Presenting

Aside from hosting podcasts, I have also hosted interview sessions at the Cambridge Sound and Vision Festival two years in a row. In 2022 I interviewed Nat Powers, and in 2023 I interviewed Grace and Nick Capaldi from EchoTown Studio. Interviewing is something I love to do, as especially in the Music and Audio industry, everyone has such a different story, and hearing these stories is often a very inspiring and exciting experience.
